About The Event

Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Research Day  is designed to introduce engineering undergraduate students to biomedical research at Yale, to spark their curiosity, and get them started in labs sooner in their college career. The day consists of lightning talks, a poster session, and a Q&A with student researchers.

Lightning Talks

The lightning talks give undergraduates the opportunity to listen to talks by graduate researchers about what it is like to actually work in biomedical research. These talks are quick to highlight what makes these researchers passionate about their work.

Poster Session

At the poster session, graduate  student representatives from different BME labs present information about research topics and the scope of undergraduate research in each lab. This is an opportunity to ask current students about their work.

During the poster session, students receive a “passport” with the names of all of the labs present at the event. When a student talks to someone representating a lab, they receive a sticker in their passport. If students get stickers from at least 3 labs, they can enter to win a raffle prize, donated by a local business.

Student Panel

During the student panel, current undergraduates, who have participated in research in a lab at Yale, discuss what it’s like to have a research project as an undergrad and answer any questions students may have.
